Finished Assassin's Apprentice, and still reading Black Powder War. And, as expected, I started reading World War Z as well.
I'll save a longer review for World War Z after I finished reading it. So far, so good though. I'm about 1/5 of the way through it, and right now, I would give it 5 Nations.
Assassin's Apprentice - I would give it 5 Nations as well. It's pretty darn good - nothing groundbreaking, but pretty entertaining. But I have started reading the sequel to it (and 2nd book of the trilogy): Royal Assassin
Details here
I have also, after a break of about 2 months, started reading The Black Dahlia again.
I'm about 1/5 of the way through Black Dahlia as well. I never saw the movie, nor do I have any desire to do so. The scathing reviews from professional critics and friends like these pretty much killed any intention I had of doing so.
However, I have always heard that the book itself was excellent. The only other book by James Ellroy that I have ever read was L.A. Confidential, and I thought that was phenomenal, so I figured why not try Black Dahlia?
It's pretty good so far, and it's really no one's fault but my own that I have not gotten deeper with it. Just my usual bad habit of reading too many things at once, and the time I do allocate for reading books just gets stretched thin.
I'll give a longer opinion of it once I am done with it.
