I still don't understand why Time Warner is completely screwing the pooch with the Green Lantern movie by the way. Green Lantern, in whatever incartion, is usually one of their most popular characters, (even more so now that Hal Jordan's back). But for the longest time, Time Warner were obsessed with making a Green Lantern movie with Jack Black playing the title character. Yes, THAT Jack Black.
I have nothing against the majority of Jack Black's work, but if you're serious about making a Green Lantern movie, don't make it a silly comedy like The Mask was (which was where it was headed). The possibilities for a franchise were limitless. Thankfully, good sense prevailed and the Jack Black version is dead in the water.
ANYWAY, how about an animated GL Corps series, like I mentioned? Or heck, invest serious money in a CGI animated movie. For the longest time, Justice League Unlimited was the best thing Time Warner had going in terms of their superhero properties, and they screwed that pooch too. But if done right (and when I say right, I mean not in the way they did The Teen Titans and Legion of Super Heroes cartoons), GL Corps could be great. Yeah, every good guy will have the same power. But that's where clever writing comes in and actually infuses personality to the different characters. And with the Sinestro Corps now in play in the comics, you even have the bad guys ready already.
I even have the opening credits planned out in my mind's eye already (and I am guessing I am not the first or last person to have thought of it unfolding this way either): The opening shot is of a space scene - you see stars, comets, planets, space ships, etc. And then in a very serious voice over you hear the famous Green Lantern oath:
Then cue music, and scenes of the various members of the Corps in action. End it with a close up of Hal Jordan, pan out and you see John Stewart and Guy Gardner flanking him on both sides. Pan out further and you see Kyle Rayner and Kilowog flanking THEM, and you keep on panning out till you have a shot of the entire 7200 GL Corps on Oa, with the Guardians in the background on the horizon. Then flash the world famous Green Lantern logo and underneath it the word "Corps".
