That Is How I Roll/Geeky Like That, Part 1

So I woke up much earlier than usual this morning because I was having the most f'ed up dream. It really shouldn't surprise me as to who the people in my dream were, considering what happened 1 year ago today, but still....

But I digress. Unable to fall asleep again, I decided to surf the net. One of the sites I decided to check was whysoserious.com, one of the sites The Dark Knight (aka The Batman Begins sequel) marketing people use for viral marketing stuff. The site changes every few weeks, with the highlight being the one from several months ago when they revealed what Heath Ledger as Joker would look like.

Anyway, for the last few weeks, they've had a picture of a jack o'lantern with a candle burning in it, and as Halloween got closer, the candle got shorter and shorter. The big chatter going on was that come Halloween, either a new trailer was going to pop up on the site, or they will show Aaron Eckhart as Two Face.

So I go to the site, and it's another piece of viral marketing. Basically, there are missions for cities all over the U.S. If you click on the little pictures surrounding the site, it tells you to go to a specific spot in said city and for you to take a picture. Since one of the places for New York City is on my way to work, decided to go there and check it out.

The clue was to go to 57th and Lexington and to stand on the 16 point star and look at the skies. I knew exactly which building this was referring to. I've passed by it so many times through the years, and know the design of the outside entrance so well that I didn't even think twice about whether I was thinking of the right place. Geek side note: this building was also in the first Spider Man movie, during the World Unity Fair scene.

So I get there, some other guy is there already. We discuss it, he thinks it's supposed to be a J. I was like, I don't think so. I stand on the star, look up, take a picture -- and I think it's supposed to be an "O".

I get to work, go to the website, lo and behold someone already has beat me to sending the picture in. Each clue basically tells you to take a picture of a letter or something that looks like a letter and I was right --- the spot I went to was supposed to be an O. So now, with each clue being uncovered, a note from the Joker is slowly being put together.

Turns out that one of the other places for New York City is very close to my office also; I actually passed by it after being done with the 57th and Lex clue. Dammit. Did not see that until I got to work. Oh well.
