The Mets made it official today and signed Willie Randolph to a 3 year contract extension worth almost $6 million. Now, I am not the biggest Willie Randolph fan when it comes to the X's and O's of being a baseball manager, but you can't argue with the success of the team under him. The players seem to love to play for him and sometimes that counts as much as knowing when to change pitchers or when to play with the infield in. I still think the Mets won the games they did in spite of Willie's tactical acumen, not because of, but like I said, can't be unhappy with the results. On a relaed note, pitchers and catchers report in about 3 weeks, if you can believe that. Hopefully this year will end up better than last year for the Mets, and no more shedding of my blue and orange Met blood!
