Jeff Koons On The Roof

Last Thursday, 2 of my co-workers and I were fortunate enough to go to a private viewing of the Jeff Koons On The Roof exhibit at the Met.

The event lasted from 6:30 til 8:30 PM, and Mr. Koons himself was there and I was able to listen to him discuss his process and philosophies in a very informal setting, which was most interesting.

It was awesome to go to the Met after it had closed, as you had that intimate feel that you could never get when there are hundreds of other people with you in just one gallery alone. Besides the Koons exhibit, you were allowed to check out a few other wings. Unfortunately, the Egyptian gallery and the European paintings were not accessible; it would have been so cool to walk through the numerous sarcophagi all by myself, my imagination running wild like a 10 year old again.

While that was not to be, there were cocktails afterwards, and they were held at one of the Museum's Sculpture halls. It's a surreal feeling to be surrounded by all these great works of art while you sip champagne and talk to people.

Afterwards, I introduced my two co-workers to good ol' Papaya King. Keeping it real you know, mixing in the high brow with the down to earth stuff. :-)

All in all, a very enjoyable and enlightening night.
