The New York City Waterfalls

So this past weekend, Nickey Mouse and I decided to go to the South Street Seaport and check out the New York City Waterfalls.

I won't lie to you, we were both wary, since judging by the pictures on the website, they basically look like scaffolding with water rolling off it. In other words, Niagara Falls it is not.

But hey, it was a beautiful day, the weather felt more like early summer/late spring rather than August, and neither of us had been to the Seaport in a while, so why not, right?

So we met up in Union Square around 2 PM and headed downtown, and then we walked from Broadway and Fulton Street to the South Street Seaport. After a quick lunch and some Häagen Dasz, we headed to the east end of the Seaport which had a view of all four waterfalls. And those four waterfalls looked like... well, like scaffolding with water rolling off it.

Maybe the falls look different when it's lit up after sunset, but they pretty much looked like Water Park installations; hell, I half expected a log flume to come flying out of one of them at some point. The Brooklyn Bridge one was somewhat interesting, as it had the bridge itself as a backdrop, but still:

I mean, you know it's kinda bad when instead of focusing on the waterfalls, I was pointing out to Nickey Mouse where The Brooklyn Ice Cream Factory and Grimaldi's were from our vantage point.

The original plan was to walk north from the Seaport along Battery Park and check out the northernmost waterfall (said waterfall is being covered by Nickey Mouse in the picture below, but I do like the picture so I am posting it anyway); let's just say we called an audible on that.

Long story short, if you have some time to kill and would like to chill out on the Seaport, you might as well check out the falls since you're there. Otherwise, I'd think twice about it.
